Document ONE enables you to capture both standard and custom metadata for documents.
Metadata is descriptive data which describes each document (e.g. who wrote it, what type of document it is, its status in the document life-cycle, etc).
Accurate and meaningful metadata can greatly assist your users to find filed documents again at a later date.
Whenever you create a document in Document ONE you must enter values in standard metadata fields, such as:
To make it as easy as possible for you to save a new document, Document ONE automatically populates most of the standard metadata fields - you can change these default values if you need to.
Custom metadata enables you to record non-standard information about a document, e.g. information that is relevant only to your particular business unit or organisation.
You can have up to 20 custom metadata fields in each document library.
